(Motorsports news) The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz has emphasized that he wants long-term stability and an early extension of his tenure with the squad. His current contract is set to expire at the end of 2024. He wants to decide on his future before the end of this season as a result. In June, Sainz admitted, “I’m not going to lie, I don’t like entering my final year of a contract without really knowing where I’m racing the next year, said Carlos Sainz.
“I underwent that procedure with both Red Bull and Renault, and I am aware that it is not ideal for a driver or an athlete. Simply put, it’s not the appropriate move. And for that reason, I’ve used this winter as a point of reference as I try to plan my future. Vasseur agrees that it will be preferable to sort out a deal before the end of this year.
“I think that with Carlos, we are fully aligned,” said the Frenchman. “We have been asked many times the same question. And we always give the same reply to Carlos, that we have time to discuss, that we have still 18 months of contract in front of us. “We both want to start the next season with a clear situation. It means that we have to take action and a decision before the end of this season.
“We still have four or five months to make a decision. However, Carlos and his management and I are completely in agreement on this topic, and we will talk about it soon. Due in great part to the connection Vasseur had with Lewis Hamilton when running him in F3 and F2 at ASM and ART in 2005–2006, Ferrari has been connected to an interest in the British driver. Despite Toto Wolff’s encouraging comments, Hamilton has yet to sign a new contract with Mercedes.
Vasseur insists that the seven-time world champion is not on Ferrari’s radar despite the lack of concrete information from the Mercedes side. “We still have four or five months to make a decision. “Well, I think it’s the same situation with Lewis that it was the last 10 years, that they are in discussion,” he replied. “I’m not sure what the problem is or even if there is one. In all honesty, I’m not even remotely focused on this. I’m concentrating on the team’s growth, and Lewis and Toto are having this conversation, not me.
