According to transfer analyst Matteo Moretto, Davide Calabria may decide to leave his 11-season tenure at San Siro, and his future at Milan is far from assured as talks to extend his contract are stalled.

As one of Milan’s captains at the moment, Calabria has started for the Rossoneri on a regular basis for a number of seasons. However, this summer, the club signed Emerson Royal from Tottenham, which forced Calabria to compete for a spot at right-back.

According to Moretto’s Caught Offside Daily Briefing blog, Calabria’s current contract with Milan expires in June 2025, and negotiations with the club over a prospective contract extension are presently on hold.

The 27-year-old is eligible to go on a free transfer at the conclusion of the season, so if the discussions don’t go well, he will be prepared to search for other opportunities.

Galatasaray reportedly made an approach to Calabria in August of last year, but he wasn’t interested in joining the Turkish Super League and hasn’t changed his mind since.

Due to injuries and competition from Emerson Royal, the Italian full-back’s playing time was restricted during this season’s opening stretch under new manager Paulo Fonseca. He only appeared in three games in both Serie A and the Champions League.
