Saka is set to sign a new contract till 2028

(Football news) Bukayo Saka is set to sign a mega contract as he is going to put pen-to-paper on a long-term deal with Arsenal that will quadruple his salary and will subsequently make him the club’s highest earner. Saka joined the Gunners when he was just seven and his existing deal is due to expire in the summer of 2024 which is just 15 months away. However, he is now poised to extend his stay through to 2028 as the Arsenal hierarchy are rewarding him for his performances this season.

The England international suffered Euro 2020 disappointment but for his club he is the top-scorer this season. The Gunners last season narrowly missed out on the top four as he scored 11 Premier League goals but Saka has already surpassed that tally this campaign after scoring two goals for Arsenal in their 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace last time out.

Saka has already scored 12 Premier League goals this season and he has emerged as the standout star in their shock title bid this campaign. Mikel Arteta’s side are flying high at the top of the league standings this term and Saka has been the key driving force in that run, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists for the Gunners this season. He enjoyed a strong World Cup where he scored three times for England in their run to the last eight in December.

The forward currently earns a weekly wage of £70,000 but that is set to increase to £300,000 per week. Saka will be the highest paid player at the club, surpassing the £250,000 weekly wage they pay to Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus, who joined from Manchester City last summer.

The deal will not quite be a club record deal, which was held by Mesut Ozil who used to get £350k per week. However, it is a sign of the trust that Arteta and sporting director Edu have in him. The contract will tie Saka down for a further five seasons and will follow in the footsteps of Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli, which is set to run through to 2027.
