(Football news) While the Seagulls were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal, Roy Hodgson’s team mounted an incredible comeback to draw 2-2 with Manchester City over the weekend.

In the weekend’s match against the champions, who would presumably cruise to victory thanks to Jack Grealish and Rico Lewis’s efforts, the Eagles’ wings were clipped early doors, even if Crystal Palace may already be accustomed to quieting the Etihad fans.

The first seventy-five minutes of the match saw Palace occupy their own half for the most part. However, as Pep Guardiola’s team was unable to extend their lead, Hodgson’s team managed to restore some hope through a tap-in from Jean-Philippe Mateta. However, in extra time, Phil Foden felled the Frenchman in the area.

Maintaining a consistently composed expression, Michael Olise scored from 12 yards out to cause chaos in the Etihad away end. Hodgson’s team not only avoided losing three games in a row for the first time this season, but they also became the latest team to undermine Man City’s title chances.

Discontent has been mounting at Selhurst Park as a result of the Eagles’ winter struggles, which have dropped Hodgson’s squad to 15th place in the Premier League standings. However, as of Thursday, the hosts are comfortably eight points clear of the drop zone and should have felt a major boost in confidence after their incredible comeback against Manchester United.

However, that four-goal deadlock was only Palace’s second point from their previous six games. The Eagles, on the other hand, have also gained the same amount of points from their last six Premier League home games, dropping their last four games at Selhurst Park.

Palace hasn’t lost in five straight Premier League games at Selhurst Park since February 2017. However, supporters of the home team who witnessed Brighton’s lackluster performance away to another capital club, Arsenal, may enter the stadium with a smile on their faces on Thursday.
