(Football news) While Thomas Frank’s team hopes to extend their winning streak over the Seagulls to three games, Roberto De Zerbi’s team is hoping to extend their unbeaten home run to six games. 

After back-to-back victories against AEK Athens and Nottingham Forest in their previous two games, Brighton headed into their encounter against Chelsea on a high note. The Seagulls have now gone seven games without a loss across all competitions.

Despite having 68% of the ball, nine shots on goal, and playing the whole second half with an additional man after Conor Gallagher’s first-half dismissal, De Zerbi’s injured team lost 3-2 at Stamford Bridge, failing to record their third straight victory.

In addition to having scored in each of their last 30 Premier League games, Brighton has also conceded in each of their previous 18 league games, which is a record for them in the competition. Brighton is now ranked eighth in the league and seven points outside of the top four.

Following back-to-back Premier League matches against Brentford and Burnley, which De Zerbi and company will be looking to win in order to get back into the top seven, Brighton will play three straight home games. The first of those games is an important Europa League group-stage match against Marseille.

Success on Wednesday is far from guaranteed, though, as Brighton has drew their past three home games during a five-game winning streak on the South Coast. Additionally, last season, they were unable to win either of their home or away games against Brentford, drawing 3-3 at home in April.

After losing two straight games without scoring against Arsenal and Liverpool, Brentford bounced back last weekend, defeating Luton Town 3-1 at home for their fifth Premier League victory of the year.
