Brenden Aaronson is set to join Leeds for a club record fee

(Football news) Leeds United are set to sign American forward Brendon Aaronson from RB Salzburg for a reported fee of 30million pounds. Born in New Jersey, the 21-year-old played for MLS outfit Philadelphia Union before showcasing his talent by heading to Europe in 2021. Since arriving in Salzburg, the USA international has been involved in 28 goals and assists in 65 appearances for the club, lifting two Austrian Bundesliga titles and two Austrian Cups. He was on the radar at Elland Road for quite some time, but the move for the player seems closer than ever to completion as Jesse Marsch gets to work in the market.

This season, the American teenager has scored six times and provided 10 assists in 41 appearances, including five goal contributions in the Champions League as Salzburg went  through to the round of 16 after producing some good performances in the group stage. Aaronson predominantly operates as a number 10, with his imminent arrival at Elland Road we may see Jesse Marsch change his formation next season as the 48-year-old looks to successfully build a team around him and guide Leeds into a more promising campaign in the Premier League.

It comes as no surprise that Leeds were especially eager to sign him quickly as his arrival will certainly add some firepower to the team’s under-promising attack. Leeds United are likely to lose Raphinha to Barcelona in the summer and their winger Jack Harrison is also attracting interest in the Premier League, which makes this signing even more important for the club.. Leeds have reportedly been linked with Club Brugge attacker Noa Lang and have made enquiries over the possibility of signing Takumi Minamino from Liverpool. After a positive first season in the Premier league,  they have struggled a lot this season. Their squad was hampered with injuries to key players but they somehow managed to avoid the drop. With the ambition of the owners to make it to European football, we can expect a lot of changes in the squad next season.
