Both the Milan clubs draw as Napoli have the opportunity to go top

(Football news) For the second matchweek in the row, AC Milan conceded in the second half as they drew 1-1 to Udinese but stayed in first place in Serie A after Inter were held to a draw with Genoa yesterday. Udinese had the majority of better chances in the first-half but AC Milan broke the deadlock in the 29th minute with their first meaningful attack in the first half when the Portugal forward Rafael Leao fired them home to give them a lead heading into the second half. The visitors continued to press after the break and deservedly levelled through Destiny Udogie in the 66th minute.

Rafael Leao had the best chance to win it late on, but his tame effort was cleared off the line much to the frustration of the San Siro fans as Milan couldn’t really assert their dominance in the game, with Udinese otherwise continuing to look the most threatening until the final whistle. Milan have now won only two of their last six league games. Stefano Pioli was left unhappy with the goal that was given and denied his side a much-needed victory, he accused Udogie of using his hand when he  bundled in the equaliser home.

"In my opinion it is not a dubious goal, it is evident that he scored by using a hand. The referee did not see it, but why did the VAR not see it? The VAR exists to remedy certain errors and we have already been penalised more than once this season. Maybe Udinese would have drawn anyway but not in this situation, as the goal was scored by hand" Pioli said after the match.

Inter played later on knowing that a win would take them top the table and end the week on a high after a string of disappointing results recently, Inter drew 0-0 against relegation threatened Genoa. Inter had several good opportunities to open the scoring in the first half but Hakan Calhanoglu fired wide early on from a great position which was subsequently their best chance in the first half. The champions were seeming to run out of ideas in the second half and ultimately struggled to create that one proper goal scoring chance. Stefano Sturaro almost snatched a famous win for Genoa late on but couldn’t take his chance when the moment arrived. Inter remained two points behind their rivals as they look to retain the Scudetto, having played one game less. Genoa stayed second bottom on 17 points from 27 games, five points from safety

Inzaghi said after the match "It's a strange thing, but at this moment of the season we are both starting to feel tired. The result leaves a bad taste in our mouth, because we could not have approached this game better. We are trying to improve on a daily basis. We lack that spark that we were able to find before. We will return to winning ways soon but we must not lose our
