(Tennis News) Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden orchestrated a truly remarkable comeback during the opening set of their quarterfinal clash at the US Open. They displayed exceptional resilience, withstanding an impressive seven set points, before ultimately clinching victory over their opponents, Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow. This hard-fought triumph not only secured their place in the men’s doubles semifinals of this prestigious Grand Slam but also marked their second consecutive appearance in a Grand Slam semifinal this year. The Indo-Australian pairing, seeded sixth in the tournament, showcased their determination and skill as they secured a 7-6 (10) 6-1 win in the quarterfinals, making their mark on the hard courts of this major event.

Prior to their successful run at the US Open, Bopanna and Ebden had also reached the semifinals at Wimbledon, where their journey was halted by the formidable duo of Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski. This impressive performance at Wimbledon set the stage for their continued success at the US Open. Remarkably, at the age of 43, Rohan Bopanna finds himself on the cusp of reaching a Grand Slam men’s doubles final for the second time in his illustrious career. It’s a particularly special milestone for Bopanna, considering that it was at the US Open in 2010 when he made his debut in a Major final, an experience that holds a special place in his tennis journey.

Looking ahead to the semifinals, Bopanna and Ebden are set to face off against the formidable French pair of Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut. Herbert and Mahut earned their spot in the semifinals with a convincing victory over American Robert Galloway and Albano Olivetti from France in the quarterfinals, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive showdown.

Unfortunately, Bopanna’s mixed doubles campaign at the US Open came to an end with a second-round defeat. He had partnered with Indonesian Aldila Sutjiadi, but despite their best efforts, they were unable to advance further in the mixed doubles competition. Nonetheless, Bopanna’s impressive run in the men’s doubles continues to captivate tennis fans around the world as he strives for yet another shot at Grand Slam glory.
