Beraldo Joins Brazil Squad Surprise

In a stunning turn of events, PSG defender Lucas Beraldo, 21, has been called up to the Brazilian national team for the forthcoming international break, despite initially missing the squad due to Gabriel Magalhães’ suspension following a yellow card during the match against Colombia. Beraldo will have the chance to show off his skills against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

In an official statement, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced: “Head coach Dorival Jr. has called up PSG defender Beraldo, Wolverhampton midfielder João Gomes, Atalanta midfielder Éderson, and Palmeiras goalkeeper Weverton for the pivotal encounter against Argentina in the 14th round of the World Cup 2026 qualifiers.  Gabriel Magalhães, Bruno Guimarães, Gerson, and Alisson will be replaced by this foursome because the first two have accrued yellow cards and will be serving their suspensions.

Beraldo returns to the Seleção and fellow PSG player Marquinhos earlier than expected after spending the first part of the international break in Paris.  The young defender has a fantastic opportunity to make an impression on the international scene against one of Brazil’s most formidable opponents thanks to this unforeseen opportunity.
