BCCI Set to Release Rajat Patidar from Indian Squad to play Ranji Trophy

(Cricket News) The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala will host the fifth Test on March 7. India hopes to end the five-match Test series against England with a commanding 4-1 score. In Ranchi, the team captained by Rohit Sharma stormed to an unbeatable 3-1 lead before winning the series by five wickets.

The Indian team is worried about injuries ahead of the fifth Test because their best batsman, KL Rahul, has not yet recovered from his ailment. Rahul reportedly took a plane to London to see a doctor about his quadriceps issue. The team management would have to stick with the struggling Rajat Patidar in the middle order if he does not make a full recovery in time.

Notably, the 30-year-old’s career has not gotten off to a fantastic start as he has only scored 63 runs in six innings thus far in the series. The team management is not willing to stick with Patidar, according to a Times of India article. Instead, they want him to play for Madhya Pradesh versus Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy semi-final, which starts on March 2.

If Rahul heals in time, the management plans to have him in the starting XI and may consider releasing Patidar to play in the Ranji Trophy. On the other hand, Patidar will remain in the team if Rahul is unable to make a full recovery. The management of the team would prefer to see Patidar return to the Ranji Trophy semi-final and rediscover some much-needed form.
