BCB postpones the ‘A’ team’s Pakistan tour due to unrest in Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has rescheduled their ‘A’ team’s tour to Pakistan by at least two days, amidst the chaos in the country. Bangladesh is under severe turmoil, with protests and curfews all around the country. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh has also fled the country and resigned from her post.

On Tuesday evening, August 6, the Bangladesh A Team was supposed to depart for Pakistan to play two four-day and three one-day matches against Pakistan A (Shaheens). But the unavoidable situations in the country have delayed their travel plans.

“The Bangladesh A Team’s departure for Pakistan has been delayed by at least 48 hours due to unavailable circumstances,” BCB said in a statement on Tuesday. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in constant communication with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the A Team’s tour,” it added.

In order to prepare for the two-match Test series, the Bangladesh A team, which includes former Test captains Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque, as well as Shahadat Hossain, Zakir Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan, Nayeem Hasan, and Hasan Mahmud, will play a four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens before returning home.

Officials from BCB stated that they are also waiting to see if they can begin preparing for the upcoming trip to Pakistan, which has been delayed because of the nationwide curfew. Bangladesh were scheduled to start their skill training session at SBNS from Sunday under the guidance of head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, who arrived in Dhaka on August 1.

“We will see the situation for the next two days and later take a decision on our next course of action as far preparation of the national team for the Pakistan tour is concerned,” a top BCB official told on Monday.

It is understood that BCB president Nazmul Hasan, who is a current member of the Parliament from Awami League and also the Sports Minister of the country, has also left the country.
