Bayern score 7 past Bochum while Dortmund lose to Werder Bremen

(Football news) Sadio Mane continued his brilliant start for Bayern Munich as he scored twice when the Bavarian side demolished VfL Bochum 7-0 on Sunday. The Bundesliga champions maintained their perfect start to the 2022-23 season as they made it three wins out of three to take them two points clear at the top with nine points. They have now scored a league-record 15 goals in their first three games even though their talisman striker Robert Lewandowski left this season to join Barcelona. Bayern went on a first-half rampage where they went on to score four times in 38 minutes to kill the game.

Bayern took the lead in the fourth-minute through Leroy Sane with their first attack of the game and new signing Matthijs de Ligt then scored with his first-ever effort on goal for Bayern, as he headed in a corner at the far post in the 25th minute. Kingsley Coman's shot from close range at the half-hour mark made it 3-0 as it all but put the game beyond doubt. Mane then made sure of three points with his second goal of the season, he has now scored three goals in three matches for Bayern Munich. Bayern eased off the gas in the second half but the African player of the season added another with a penalty on the hour mark. Cristian Gamboa came under pressure from Sane as he scored an own goal. Substitute Serge Gnabry made it look easy when he thundered in a low shot to make it 7-0.

"We are not setting ourselves any limit and are trying to deliver performances such as these as well. The energy currently in the team was not always there in such a way last season. That's something very comfortable to know. In the second half we still tried to win the game and solidify our plays. Every player played really well. It won't be easy picking a team for next weekend" Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said.

Werder Bremen stunned the crowd at the Signal Iduna Park as they scored three times in the final minutes to come from two goals down and snatch a stunning 3-2 victory on Saturday, which meant that it ended the hosts' winning start to the season. Dortmund were lacklustre throughout the match. Dortmund were not at their best but thought they had done enough to win the game after being 2-0 up until the 89th minute. That is when Werder Bremen scripted history as Lee Buchanan started the visitors' comeback in sensational fashion before they scored again through Niklas Schmidt and Oliver Burke deep in stoppage time. The visitors subsequently became the first Bundesliga team to score three goals in a game after 89 minutes.

Julian Brandt had fired a blinder past Jiri Pavlenka in first-half stoppage time to take a very unexpected lead after a very poor first half for the hosts. Werder Bremen had 10 shots on goal compared to Dortmund's two shots as the visitors were the much more adventurous side throughout but they were caught out again when Raphael Guerreiro tried his luck from 25 metres out and beat the keeper with a low shot in the 77th minute. The visitors however showed great resilience to score what many thought was a consolation goal in the 89th minute but Schmidt then drew them level before Burke's stunning winner deep in extra time, leaving Dortmund on six points from their first three games as now they are already 3 points behind the champions Bayern Munich.

"We are unfortunately talking about a deserved defeat. Still, it's frustrating when you are 2-0 up until the 89th minute, even if you have not played well. It is difficult to explain it rationally. After they scored their first goal we started to shake.Dortmund coach Edin Terzic told a news conference.Even if our performance is not good we should be winning such matches." Dortmund coach Edin Terzic told a news conference.
