Bayern held to 1-1 home draw against spirited Hoffenheim but they still managed to stay top of the Bundesliga standings
Kramaric scores a brilliant free kick to help earn his team a 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich

(Football news) Bayern Munich continued their poor form as they conceded a 71st-minute free kick which helped Hoffenheim get a 1-1 draw at home on Saturday. It ended a very turbulent week for the champions but even after that they managed to stay two points clear at the top of the Bundesliga with six games remaining as Dortmund also dropped points against Stuttgart.

The Bavarians were without Sadio Mane who got suspended after he punched his teammate Leroy Sane after their disappointing 3-0 Champions League loss to Manchester City. Mane hit Sane after their quarter final first-leg loss which earned him a hefty fine and a one-game ban. Mane is enduring one of the worst seasons in his career and off the field drama is not helping his career in Munich.

Bayern now have an all important task of hosting City in the return leg on Wednesday as they look to turn around a 3-0 deficit. The Bavarian giants looked very sluggish in the first half with few chances but they did take the lead when Benjamin Pavard drilled in a powerful shot after 17 minutes. Hoffenheim after going behind didn’t lose spirit as they came close with two chances in the 55th minute, a Pavel Kaderabek volley and an Angelo Stiller header both narrowly missed the target.

They finally got their much deserved equaliser in the 71st minute courtesy of their top scorer Andrej Kramaric who curled in an inch perfect free kick. Hoffenheim thought that they had conceded a goal when Pavard stabbed the ball in from close range only for VAR who deemed it as offside. Bayern are currently on 59 points which is subsequently two ahead of Borussia Dortmund.
