Bayern face Hoffenheim, Dortmund look to bounce back against Stuttgart

(Football news) Hoffenheim have the slight chance to move above Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga table if they beat them at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena. Bayern on the other hand will be hoping to close the gap on the league leaders Union Berlin to only one point as last week they thumped Freiburg 5-0 to leapfrog their opponents into second place in the standings. Julian Naglesmann's side's win saw five different goalscorers with the likes of Serge Gnabry, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Leroy Sane, Sadio Mane and Marcel Sabitzer all scoring during the one-sided fixture.

Bayern were back to their best as they won 5-2 against Augsburg in the DFB-Pokal but they had to come from behind after Mads Pedersen's ninth-minute goal had given Augsburg the lead l against their Bavarian rivals after suffering defeat at the hands of them last month but Bayern ensured that a repeat of the same performances doesn’t take place as they scored 5 goals. Since winning their opening three league games, Nagelsmann's side have only won two of their last seven matches in the Bundesliga, so the 35-year-old will be demanding some consistency from his players as they look to go to the top of the table.

Hoffenheim possible starting lineup:

Baumann; Akpoguma, Kabak, Nsoki; Skov, Promel, Geiger, Angelino; Baumgartner; Rutter, Dabbur

Bayern Munich possible starting lineup:

Neuer; Pavard, Upamecano, De Ligt, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Gnabry, Musiala, Mane; Choupo-Moting

Borussia Dortmund will be hoping to return to winning ways when they host Stuttgart on Saturday. The visitors finally recorded their first Bundesliga league win last time out. Dortmund won four of their opening five matches in the Bundesliga this season, but since then they have prevailed in only one of their five fixtures to fall to eighth in the Bundesliga table. A 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich, particularly when they were 2-0 down at Westfalenstadion one stage as they staged a magnificent comeback. Those successive defeats on the road away to FC Koln and Union Berlin have really hampered their season

Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was hugely to blame for last weekend's as the 24-year-old slipped on a routine back pass to allow Janik Haberer to break the deadlock, BVB have now fallen seven points behind the league leader Union Berlin. Edin Terzic's side did at least beat Hannover 96 2-0 in the second round of the DFB-Pokal matches in midweek, while they are on the verge of reaching the Champions League knockout stages, but their focus must quickly return to winning ways if they are to stand a chance of competing for the Bundesliga title this season.

Borussia Dortmund possible starting lineup:

Kobel; Meunier, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Guerreiro; Bellingham, Ozcan; Adeyemi, Brandt, Malen; Moukoko

Stuttgart possible starting lineup:
