Barca Atletic Hit by Post-Drop Exodus

As players with contracts that are about to expire look outside of Segunda Federation, Barca Atletico’s relegation has caused a wave of departures.  The team’s quality is still evident despite falling a division, and several players are aspiring for higher-level careers.

Diego Percan, who will be joining the Polish team Arka Gdynia, is one of the first to move.  Following the team’s recent promotion, the 23-year-old will enter Poland’s top flight by signing a two-year contract with a third-season option.

A significant knee injury severely hampered Percan’s past season.  When he scored a last-minute goal against Unionistas de Salamanca in a pivotal game that may have prevented the team from relegation, he almost became the hero.  In stoppage time, Osasuna Promesas scored to ensure Barca Atletico’s elimination.

Percan played both as a central striker and on the wings during his two seasons with the team after a big €300,000 deal from Cultural Leonesa. He excelled with his goal-scoring abilities and versatility.

Aleix Garrido, the captain, is another prominent player who may be departing.  He is reportedly talking with Eibar to join their team for the Segunda Division’s upcoming season.

By sharing a picture from Bilbao, Garrido himself stoked rumors that he was moving to the Basque club.  He captained the squad as captain during a difficult season that finally resulted in relegation, having played his whole developmental career with Barca Atletico.

After placing ninth in Segunda the previous season, Eibar wants to assemble a strong team in order to return to the Primera Division.  Garrido is only 21 years old and available on a free transfer, making him an alluring prospect for the team and the player.

Garrido’s career advancement would be severely hampered if he stayed in Segunda Federation, therefore joining Eibar would provide him a great opportunity to display his skills in professional football.
