ATM and FCB play for a top 4 spot while RMA look to bounce back after CDR exit

(Football news) La Liga is set to return after almost 2 weeks without action. Real Madrid are still on top of the table, 4 points ahead of 2nd placed Sevilla. If there is anytime that can change it is now as Real Madrid have just been knocked out of the Copa del Rey in disappointing fashion.

Los Blancos were beaten 1-0 by Athletic Club after an 89th minute winner by Alex Berenguer. Carlo Ancelotti will look to pick his team up and bounce back after the disappointment as they face Granada at home on Sunday. Vinicius Jr is suspended for the game while Karim Benzema, who has just started training with the team could come back. Ferland Mendy is injured and will miss the game. Marcelo should start at left back. Real Madrid will surely be disappointed with what happened in the Copa del Rey but they can't afford to surrender the La Liga now. They have to start by getting a comfortable win against Granada who are currently 15th on the La Liga table.

Barcelona face off Atletico Madrid at the Nou Camp. The winner will go to the 4th place on the La Liga table. Both the teams were knocked out of the Copa del Rey Round of 16 which is why they have had a longer break than rivals Real Madrid. Barcelona's new signings Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Adama Traore will be in the squad while Rienildo and Daniel Wass could make their debut for Atlético Madrid. The game is very important with the context of the league and also from a psychological point of view. A win would do the team's confidence a lot of good, especially with the European knockouts just around the corner. Barcelona are still without Sergi Roberto, Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet and Ansu Fati while Ousmane Dembele's involvement after the contract situation is still unclear.
