(Football news) Real Madrid will travel across the road to Wanda Metropolitano as they face Atletico Madrid. Los Blancos are on a 8 game win streak this season and they are doing it without their talisman Karim Benzema. Atletico Madrid on the other hand are struggling as they have lost 2 and drawn 1 game already. Their last match was a 2-0 loss against an out of form Bayer Leverkusen team. Madrid derbies are usually feisty and aggressive and this one is not going to be any different as the referee will probably have a very busy night.
Real Madrid will welcome back Eder Militao who has recovered from the injury that kept him out for the last two games. Karim Benzema is still not fit enough and he will not take part in the match nor will Lucas Vazquez. Atletico Madrid on the other hand will be without Stefan Savic, Thomas Lemar, Jose Giménez and Sergio Reguilón. Jan Oblak who missed the last two games will be back between the sticks. It will be interesting to see if this is the game where Diego Simeone decides to give Antoine Griezmann a start as he has been having an impact off the bench. However there are off the field problems which may influence that decision.
Atletico Madrid are defensive and most of the time park the bus. Real Madrid often struggle against these types of teams even more so without Benzema. Real Madrid will have to find a way to break that defence and Vinicius Jr is the man to do that. Carlo Ancelotti will be tempted to play David Alaba at left back to increase that attacking threat down the left hand side. Fede Valverde is in incredible form having scored in his last two games. He will be very important for the Merengues. Atletico Madrid will be counting on their star striker Joao Felix to work his magic.
