(Football news) Premier League champions Manchester City have enjoyed a successful spell in the seven years of Pep Guardiola’s management. The Spaniard has won 10 trophies so far and is arguably the best manager in the history of the club. However, Guardiola has revealed his plans to leave Manchester City after his contract expires in 2023, with the 50 year old looking for some rest and a national team role in the future.
At an XP Investimentos event, Guardiola revealed his ambition to train a South American team, an European national side and experience the Copa America. The Catalan signed a new contract with City last November and will look to add to the three Premier League titles he has already won in four years, but more importantly win the elusive Champions League trophy for the first time in Manchester City’s history.
Having already coached in Spain and Germany, Guardiola has enjoyed a tremendously successful career prior to his move to England. He won three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies at F.C Barcelona. He won the Bundesliga thrice with Bayern Munich, two times winner of the DFB-Pokal, a UEFA Super Cup and a Fifa Club World Cup.
The news will dampen City’s hopes of signing Harry Kane, who has reiterated his commitment to Tottenham Hotspur and will not be leaving this summer. With question marks over City’s management in the future, the England striker may not be keen on moving to the blue half of Manchester.
