Mahi Raghav reaches final at 4th Junior Girls National Boxing Championship

(Boxing news) Mahi Raghav, two time Khelo India Youth Games champion cruised into the 63 kg final by defeating Nikita from Rajasthan at the 4th Junior Girls National Boxing Championship at Delhi Public School (DPS), Sonipat on Friday.

Having won back to back medals at the Khelo India Youth Games in 2019 and 2020, Mahi secured a 3-2 victory and will now take on Punjab’s Arshdeep Kaur for a gold medal on Saturday. Arshdeep emphatically won her semi-final clash 5-0 against Andhra Pradesh’s Deepika Sundi.

Haryana boxers have secured a place in the finals for each weight category and apart from Mahi, Muskan (46kg), Vishu Rathee (48kg), Neha (50kg), Tanu (52kg), Aarzoo (54kg), Anchal Saini (57kg), Kanishka Maan (60kg), Saneha (66kg), Rudrika (70kg), Pranjal Yadav (75kg), Sanjana (80kg), Kirti (+81kg) have also progressed to the finals that will take place on Saturday.

The Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) maintained their fine form at the semi-finals of the 3rd Junior Boys National Boxing Championships where nine of their boxers Harsh (46kg), Neeru (48kg), Nikhil (52kg), Ashish (54kg), Preet Malik (63kg), Ankush Panghal (66kg), Jackson Singh Laishram (70kg), Naksh Beniwal (75kg) and Rhythm Sangawan (+80kg) reached the final. Anshul (57kg), Yashwardhan Singh (60kg), Gagandeep (66kg), Gaurav Saini (70kg), Ishan Kataria (75kg) and Bharat Njoon (+80kg) from Haryana will compete for the gold medal in their respective categories.

Nearly 500 boxers (298 boys and 201 girls) competed in the third edition of Junior Boys and fourth edition of Junior Girls National Boxing Championships. The top performers will be selected for the 2021 ASBC youth and junior boxing championships which will take place in Dubai from August 17 to 31st.
