Indian boxer Pooja Rani loses 5-0 in the quarter-finals against Qian Li of China

(Boxing news) Olympic 2021 Live Update: Pooja Rani was outclassed by China’s Qian Li in the quarter-finals of the women's middleweight (75kg) division. The 30 year old boxer who has previously won a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games and a gold medal in the 2016 South Asian Games lost in both the rounds against the former World Champion Qian Li at her debut Olympic Games. Despite starting aggressively, Pooja could not connect her punches in the first round and Qian Li got 10-9 on all five scorecards.

The second round saw the Chinese boxer utterly dominate Pooja Rani who struggled to get her punches right and could not cope with Qian Li’s unrelenting attacks. The score ended in Qian Li’s favor as she got 10-9 on all five scorecards. The third round saw Qian Li keep her distance from Pooja Rani and land lethal blows whenever she got the opportunity. Soon enough, Pooja Rani lost the third round too and Qian Li progressed to the next round effortlessly.
