(Cricket News) The calm and collected Arshdeep Singh secured the victory for India by defending nine runs in the final over against Australia. This triumph not only sealed the final match of the series but also resulted in India winning the overall series 4-1.

Despite a less-than-ideal performance in the earlier matches, the left-arm pacer showcased his resilience in the crucial last over. Having struggled with an economy of over ten runs per over in the initial three games, Arshdeep found himself omitted from the fourth match. It was only due to Deepak Chahar’s absence, owing to a family emergency, that Arshdeep got a chance to play. He justified his inclusion by conceding a mere three runs in the decisive final over.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Arshdeep revealed his mindset: “There was nothing going on in my mind; I just wanted to execute my plans. I had nothing to lose.” He acknowledged discussing strategies with teammate Suryakumar Yadav, emphasizing that he approached the match with a fearless attitude.

Arshdeep initiated the final over with an excellent bouncer, securing the crucial wicket of the Australian skipper and sealing the win for India. He credited the spin duo of Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel for their contributions to India’s series victory. Bishnoi, named the Player of the Series, secured nine wickets, while Axar Patel claimed six scalps with an impressive economy rate of 6.20 runs per over.

Reflecting on the Chinnaswamy Stadium’s unexpected support for bowlers, Arshdeep highlighted the role of precise bowling in exploiting the conditions. Despite being the most expensive bowler earlier in the night, he transformed into the last-over hero, orchestrating a memorable comeback.

When questioned about the bowling track, Arshdeep shared, “In my first three overs, I didn’t feel like it was a bowling-friendly track. But yes, there was more help if you are bowling in the right areas.” He acknowledged his initial loose deliveries but commended the collective effort of the bowling unit in making a strong comeback.

Arshdeep praised Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, noting that the skipper provided the players with freedom and encouraged them to express themselves. He emphasized Yadav’s positive approach, focusing on the process rather than results, and appreciated the captain’s supportive role in the team’s success.
