Arsenal interested in signing David Raya

Brentford keeper David Raya has agreed to personal terms with Arsenal on a long-term contract

(Football news) Negotiations between the two teams on the price and terms of the deal are anticipated to pick up speed.  Raya would be signing a long-term contract, albeit at this point he simply has a verbal agreement and nothing is inked.

Raya has expressed his desire to complete the transfer, but Brentford believe their £40 million asking price is reasonable, and they are content with the chance that the custodian may depart for free if they are unable to sell.

Raya’s contract expires in 2024 and will not be renewed, so Brentford are running out of time to cash in, but they appear to be fine with that. Brentford, on the other hand, have already signed a substitute custodian in Mark Flekken. It would seem that an agreement between Arsenal and Brentford would be in everyone’s best interests.

Arsenal are expected to make a proposal for Raya soon, but his value is said to be closer to £30 million than the £40 million sought by Brentford. Raya appeared in 39 games for Brentford last season, recording 12 clean sheets.

The Gunners want the Spaniard to battle for a starting berth with Aaron Ramsdale in the upcoming season.

Arteta, on the other hand, had faith, and he would soon be rewarded as Ramsdale established himself as an important member of the club in 2021/22. His save percentage of 73.4% placed him among the top performers in the Premier League, and he was in the top three in the division for goals avoided.

Ramsdale’s propensity to play with the ball at his feet also made him an important element of Arteta’s favoured arrangement, and his efforts during the year earned him an England debut.
