Arsenal and Manchester City aim to win two in a row

(Football news) The first match week of the Premier League went on as expected with great quality. Perhaps two of the best performing teams in the first week were Manchester City and Arsenal as both won 2-0. Manchester United's loss to Brighton and Liverpool's draw against Fulham were the two biggest surprises.

After comfortably beating Crystal Palace away by 2-0, Arsenal will be looking to take 6 points in two games as they take on Leicester City. There is a really positive atmosphere in and around the Gunners team after a good transfer window and a pre-season. Their performance against Palace was as good as they have played under Mikel Arteta. Takehiro Tomiyaso, who missed the first match will be doubtful for the Leicester game as well. Leicester City are in a very difficult position as they haven't made any signings yet and have lost club captain Kasper Schmeichel. There are constant reports on more sales which makes things very complicated for Brendon Rogers. In the first match Leicester drew 2-2 despite leading 2-0 after 46 minutes against Brentford.

Champions Manchester City in their hunt to win 3 back to back league titles defeated West Ham by 2-0. New mega signing Erling Haaland scored two goals to put the entire league on notice. City will face newly promoted side Bournemouth who also won their first match by 2-0 against Aston Villa. Aymeric Laporte is still unavailable due to injury for Manchester City while Bournemouth will be without Joe Rothwell and Ryan Fredricks. It goes without saying that Manchester City are the clear favourites but what a moment it will be if Bournemouth manage to get a result.
