Argentina extend their unbeaten streak to 34 games, Brazil beat Ghana

(Football news) Lionel Messi scored twice as Argentina dominated Honduras in a 3-0 on Friday in Miami. The World Cup-bound team continues to fine-tune its game ahead of the upcoming tournament in Qatar, while they extended their unbeaten streak to 34 games. Messi was at the center of the action from the get go when he lobbed a pass and found Lautaro Martinez for an early 1-0 lead. The 35-year-old was on the receiving end of a hard foul in the 39th minute when Deybi Flores brought him down in the near penalty box. Messi's teammates immediately got in the faces of the Honduras players and they exchanged some harsh words.

Near the end of the half Marcelo Santos fouled Giovani Lo Celso and Messi made no mistake from the penalty spot for a 2-0 advantage. Argentina kept the pressure on in the second half, as Enzo Fernandez stole the ball in the 69th minute and laid it off perfectly to Messi who chipped the ball over the goalkeeper's head to the delight of the crowd at Hard Rock Stadium. Determined to put on a show for his fans, Messi tried a difficult leaping shot in stoppage time of the match but it just narrowly missed the target. Next up for Argentina is another friendly against Jamaica on Tuesday in New Jersey.

Richarlison scored two goals as Brazil breezed past Ghana with a comfortable 3-0 victory in a friendly in Le Havre. Brazil's first-half performance gave the fans plenty of reason to be excited as the young team which will be going into the World Cup when they will aim for a record-extending sixth World Cup title. They dominated Ghana from the start with an aggressive pressing game as the attack was stacked with players such as Vinicius Jr, Raphinha, Richarlison and Neymar, who subsequently delivered two assists in the match. Marquinhos opened the scoring after nine minutes with a bullet header from a pinpoint corner by Raphinha.

Richarlison continued his good form by extending the lead 19 minutes later with an accurate first-time shot from the edge of the penalty area into the bottom left corner of the goal. The Tottenham Hotspur forward then added the third goal five minutes before halftime with a clever header from a free kick by Neymar. The five-times world champions took the pedal off the gas in the second half as manager Tite sent on several other youngsters. Manchester United new signing Antony almost scored the fourth in the 75th minute from a cross from Lucas Paqueta  Neymar almost scored a wonder goal in the 80th minute after sprinting past three defenders but his shot went wide. Brazil plays Tunisia in Paris on Tuesday which is going to be their last game before their World Cup Group G opener against Serbia on Nov. 24.

"I hope that Brazilian fans believe in me more because here in the national team I score a lot," Richarlison said. "I'm wearing jersey number nine and every time I wear it I'm scoring a goal. I come here, and I do my work quietly."
