(Football news) Real Madrid have presented their 4th signing of the season in the form of Arda Guler. The 18 year old midfielder had a lot of offers from top European clubs but he said that “Once Real Madrid came in, all the other offers lost their value”. One of the clubs who were interested in him was Barcelona but they wanted him to stay at Fenerbahce for another season and come next year. Arda Guler was desperate to make a move this coming season and Real Madrid agreed.

In his first Real Madrid press conference, Arda Guler was asked if he will go out on loan. The player was pretty clear that he wants to stay, learn and fight for his place. According to reports the player has already been informed by manager Carlo Ancelotti that he will play at the right wing. Arda Guler also said that he feels equally comfortable as a number 10 and as a right winger.

Real Madrid’s midfield is stacked so the right wing is where Guler is likely to get the most game time. He will still have to compete with Brahim Diaz, Rodrygo and Fede Valverde who can all play in that position. Copa Del Rey is likely to be the competition where he will get the most minutes.

Arda Guler’s decision to stay is very bold because he will have to fight really hard to get game time. It would’ve been easier for him to go somewhere else for one season and return next season when Toni Kroos and/or Luka Modric are likely to leave. But he will relish the opportunity to learn under the two veterans and then eventually take over. Carlo Ancelotti has a very difficult task of dividing the minutes which is something that he isn’t known to do. What Real Madrid don’t want is another Martin Odegaard situation where the player will get frustrated for not getting minutes and eventually leaves.
