(Cricket News) As the World Cup draws closer with only 70 days remaining, England, the defending champions, have received a significant boost that is sure to delight their supporters. Paul Farbrace, the former assistant coach of England and current head coach at Sussex, has revealed that Jofra Archer, the fast bowler, is making promising progress in his recovery from injury and is expected to secure a spot in the World Cup squad.

Jofra Archer played a pivotal role in England’s historic victory in the 2019 50-over World Cup on home soil. However, he has since been grappling with back injuries. Although he made a comeback earlier this year, the injury resurfaced, leading to his exclusion from England’s ongoing Ashes squad, in which they are trailing 2-1.

Paul Farbrace has been closely involved with Archer during his time at Sussex and, in an interview with BBC’s Radio Five Live, he stated, “He is doing very well. I believe he is on track for the World Cup, which is fantastic news.”

In his debut World Cup appearance, Archer managed to secure an impressive tally of 20 wickets, making him one of the standout performers with the ball.
