Angel Di Maria is set to join Juventus on a free transfer

(Football news) Ángel Di María has agreed to join Juventus on a one-year deal after his contract ended at Paris Saint-Germain on 1st July. The 34-year-old Argentina forward is expected to be in Italy this week and is poised to be the club’s second eye-catching free signing of the summer. The deal for Di María follows Paul Pogba, who is due for a medical in Turin on Saturday to complete his return to the club after leaving Manchester United this summer.

Di María departed PSG this summer, having played with them for seven seasons during which he featured in 295 games for the club and scored 92 goals. The Argentina international's previous clubs include Manchester United and Real Madrid as Di María’s one season at Old Trafford came when Pogba was still at Juventus. Last season Juventus finished a distant fourth in Serie A last season, 16 points behind the champions AC Milan. The Old Lady were considered to be the frontrunners for Di Maria’s signature, as the forward was waiting on Barcelona before he made a decision on his next club. That has now changed as Fabrizio Romano has reported that Juventus and the Argentine have agreed on a one-year contract.

The 34-year-old will join the Old Lady soon after he completes his medical which is scheduled to take place this week. Not only that, they have secured the signing of Paul Pogba who will also join the club at the same time, on a four-year contract..Di Maria joined PSG, from Manchester United in 2015 and was a key figure at the club under Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino. He has been capped 121-times for Argentina and played in 30 games across all competitions for PSG last season, where he went on to score four goals. He helped PSG win the Ligue 1 title five times at Parc des Princes and 5 French Cups.

“No, this doesn’t interest me, Juventus is the biggest club in Italy, they are one of the teams interested in me. At the moment I am reflecting, but I’m focused on the holidays and my family.” said Di Maria when offered a Roma shirt.
