Amidst the Barcelona transfer rumors, Bayern CEO provides an update on Joshua Kimmich’s future.

With Joshua Kimmich’s current contract coming to an end, Max Eberl, the sports director of Bayern Munich, has provided an update on the player’s future with the team.

The arrival of Hansi Flick at the team has put an end to the rumors surrounding Kimmich’s possible transfer to Barcelona, which have been frequently connected to the player in recent months.

Eberl says he wants Kimmich to stay and take on the role of club captain, but he is aware that contract negotiations would be difficult.

“We have two big figures in Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller who will leave us at some point in the foreseeable future due to their age. So we need new big figures.” he told BR 24.

“Joshua Kimmich, with his performances, his willingness, his heart, is predestined for that. It’s not for nothing that he’s captain of the German national team.

“He should be the captain of Bayern Munich of the future. But first we have to extend the contract, which will be exhausting enough.”

If Kimmich were to join Barcelona, it would be a transformative move. His passing range and vision would enhance Barcelona’s possession-based style, and his defensive capabilities would provide much-needed balance. Additionally, Kimmich’s experience in high-pressure situations would be invaluable for a young squad looking to rebuild and compete at the highest levels.

The rumors surrounding Joshua Kimmich’s potential transfer to Barcelona have generated considerable buzz in the football world. As one of the premier midfielders globally, Kimmich’s move could reshape both teams’ futures. While speculation continues, fans will be eagerly watching to see if this potential transfer materializes, as it could significantly impact the landscape of European football.
