(Football news) Alex Telles, a defender for Manchester United, is apparently prepared to sign a permanent contract with Al-Nassr. In 2020, when the left-back transferred from Porto to Old Trafford, it was thought that United had accomplished a coup by securing a deal for just £13.6m.

The Brazilian international has made a total of 43 starts and seven substitute appearances across all competitions, but he has been unable to match his prior performance while under contract with the Premier League heavyweights. Despite Telles’ one goal and eight assists, Luke Shaw finally prevailed in their competition for a regular starting position, and Telles moved on loan to Sevilla.

The 30-year-old was in and out of the Spanish team, but he was an important part of their Europa League victory, appearing for 95 minutes against Roma in the championship match. Telles, who has one year left on his contract, has been back at his parent club while waiting for a decision regarding his future, and he has no shortage of admirers.

Telles officially denied suggestions that he may have wanted to return to Portugal to play for Benfica, Porto’s bitter rivals, while Flamengo was said to be interested in giving him the chance to play for his native country.

Al-Nassr would prevail in the battle for Telles’ signature now that talks have taken place between the necessary parties. According to reports, there has been a “verbal agreement” between the two teams to expedite the transfer process.

Tyrell Malacia already serves as competition for Shaw, and the Red Devils won’t want to sign a new left-back because there are other players who can step in if and when needed.

Former United defender Jonny Evans has signed a short-term contract to play in the team’s forthcoming friendly, although the club is still actively looking for a new centre-back. As a result of Harry Maguire losing his position as club captain, United is eager for the England international to join another team, although this is unlikely given his high salary.
