(Football News) The 1st leg of the Champions League semi-final was a disaster for AC Milan as they lost the home leg 2-0. Now they have to come back in front of the Inter Milan fans which will be a very tough task. On the weekend Milan lost away from home against Spezia which further dented their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. Inter on the other hand won 4-2 at home against Sassuolo which strengthened their 3rd position on the Serie A table. The pressure will be on both teams in this mega tie coming up at the Iconic San Siro stadium.
The big reason for Milan’s failure in the 1st leg was the absence of talisman Rafael Leao. There is still no clarity on his availability but Stefano Pioli has said that he is on the right track to play some part in the match. It is unlikely that Leao plays the full match because he hasn’t trained much with the team. If he is fit then he will either start and then get taken off or come in as an impact substitute. Apart from that Junior Messias, Rade Krunic, and Ismael Bennacer are all out of contention for the rest of the season.
Inter Milan have to protect their lead but at the same time, they will definitely look to get a goal to put the tie to an end in front of their fans. Milan Skriniar is the only absentee for Inter while Joaquin Correa is a doubt after picking up a knock on the weekend against Sassuolo. Romelu Lukaku scored twice in that game but Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko will come into the line-up again. The key for Inter will be to not be overly defensive as one goal from Milan will change the mood completely.
