Aakash chopra talks about consecutive defeats in the T20I series against the West Indies, India faces a final opportunity to stay in contention as they clash with the West Indies in the third match in Guyana tonight. The question arises: Could the inclusion of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal inject a resurgence into the team’s fortunes?

Aakash Chopra, an expert at JioCinema, shares his perspective on potential changes to the opening partnership. He emphasizes the significance of granting players a fair chance, stating, “If you have given someone a chance to play, you should give them three matches at least so that you can arrive at a decision. I feel for one more match, I will not change the opening pair of Ishan and Shubman Gill.”

The sluggish pitches in the Caribbean have posed challenges for India, and Chopra believes that despite the conditions, the team should have scored more aggressively during the powerplay overs. He explains, “In the first six overs, it’s important to capitalise. But it is only possible if you have wickets in hand. They are playing the first two overs cautiously… But if you divide the powerplay into two halves, in the second half of the powerplay you need to accelerate.”

Aakash Chopra also emphasizes the need for the batting unit to take on more responsibility, particularly given a potential vulnerability at the No. 8 position. He emphasizes the significance of captain Hardik Pandya contributing both runs and staying at the crease till the end to ensure a defendable total. In terms of the bowling strategy, Chopra expresses surprise at the underutilization of Axar Patel, noting that his skills could be harnessed more effectively, especially considering the specific batting order of the opposition.

In summary, Aakash Chopra encourages maintaining stability in the opening partnership, pursuing a more aggressive approach during powerplay overs, enhancing batting responsibility, and optimizing the utilization of Axar Patel’s bowling prowess.
