Jose Mourinho keen to bring Andrea Belotti to AS Roma

(Football news) AS Roma have been very busy in this transfer window. Last season the club appointed Jose Mourinho as their manager and in his very first season Roma broke their 14 year trophy drought by winning the UEFA Conference League. It was also Roma's first ever major European trophy. This season Roma are on the right track to go to the next level. They have completed the signings of Nemanja Matic, Mile Svilar, Mehmet Zeki Celik, Paulo Dybala and Georginio Wijnaldum. Now Mourinho has his eyes set on another free agent Andrea Belotti.

Belotti couldn't reach an agreement with Torino for a new contract and hence left the club for free. The 26-year old is yet to find a club and there are rumours that AS Roma are interested in signing him. Responding to the rumours, Mourinho said “I don’t know if he will sign with us in the end, but I can talk about him because he is free. I’m happy to know who wants to come to Rome, I like that, and the director knows it too.” The statement clearly suggests that the deal is pretty much on the cards and could be completed very soon.

Roma already have a strong number 9 in Tammy Abraham. Belotti will bring depth and competition in the side. He is still young and proven Serie A quality which will make him a good signing especially considering that he is a free agent. Roma have a lot of other issues to sort as well. Nicolo Zaniolo is constantly linked with a move away from Roma. Mourinho has repeatedly said that he wants Zaniolo to stay as he is an important player. New summer signing Gini Wijnaldum has suffered a fractured leg in training. Roma could still sign a couple of more players before the window ends.
