(Football news) Inter Milan have entered discussions with the agent of Dan-Axel Zagadou who turned 23 over a potential move to Italy as the central defender is currently a free-agent and is free to discuss terms with any team that is interested in him. The French U21 international centre-back was released from Borussia Dortmund after a knee injury which plagued most of the defender’s season but there was interest from OGC Nice, where subsequently former Dortmund boss Lucien Favre is now manager as well as Manchester United earlier in the window. 

Born in Paris, Zagadou played for PSG at youth level until 2017, but the centre back signed a professional contract with Borussia Dortmund. He went on to make a total of 67 appearances for the Black and Yellow, winning both the German Super Cup in 2019/20 as well as the German National Cup in 2020/21. In the Bundesliga last season, the centre-back made only 15 appearances for Dortmund after a season ending knee injury ruled him out until November.  Inter Milan are a club whose search for a centre-back continues as the Milanese giants are approaching two players in the position. Inter recently met with Torino to discuss Gleison Bremer’s fee, which the player has been interested in for quite a while and the club also have an agreement with Bremer regarding personal terms, but have not agreed a transfer fee with Torino.

The club reportedly had a direct meeting with Mousa Sissoko for Dan-Axel Zagadou, according to Romano. Inter are targeting at least two centre backs as Milan Skrinar might leave the club to join PSG. Bremer is an excellent option, the Brazilian was named Serie A’s top defender for the 2021/22 season. Inter last season fell short of retaining the Scudetto while their main rivals AC Milan lifted the crown after 10 years. It’s no surprise that Inter is looking to bolster the squad after last season and have already brought in plenty of talent in the squad..

Inter’s main core includes the likes of Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij, and Alessandro Bastoni. These are all very talented players but Milan Skriniar will most likely join PSG this summer transfer window. Defence has been Inter’s bread and butter of the past as now the attack is fully reloaded with Romelu Lukaku’s return, so now the club is prioritising another defender. Zagadou is a solid option and one for the future. His appearances in Dortmund’s playing XI haven’t been consistent, but when he has played Zagadou has impressed everyone with his raw athleticism. Bremer is likely the top target mostly due to his success in Serie A but Zagadou can come in to provide solid depth in the Inter squad.
