(Cricket news) Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by 3 wickets in a last ball thriller. The toss was won by Ravindra Jadeja who elected to bowl first. CSK made 2 changes by bringing in Mitchell Santner and Dwaine Pretorius for Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan. MI on the other hand roped in Riley Meredith, Daniel Sams and Hritik Shokeen for Tymal Mills, Fabian Allen and Murugan Ashwin.
Mukesh Choudhary gave CSK the perfect start as he dismissed Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan for ducks in the very first over. Choudhary also got rid of Dewald Brevis in the 3rd over as Mumbai were in deep trouble. Young sensation Tilak Varma scored 51 off 43 balls to take Mumbai to a respectable total. His innings consisted of 3 fours and 2 sixes. Cameos by Suryakumar Yadav and Hritik Shokeen provided decent support while Jaydev Unadkat got some valuable runs towards the end. Mukesh Choudhary got 3 wickets while Mitchell Santner and Mahesh Theekshana got one each. Dwayne Bravo once again showed his experience by picking up 2 wickets. Mumbai Indians got to 155/7 in 20 overs which didn't look posible at one point.
The run chase went right down to the wire as CSK had to score 17 runs of the last over. Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for a golden duck on the very first ball by Daniel Sams. Robin Uthappa held one end as scored 30 off 25 balls hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. Ambati Rayudu played a very important knock as he scored 40 off 35 balls including 2 boundaries and 3 maximums. Dwaine Pretorius scored an invaluable 14 ball 22 at the death to keep CSK in the game. MS Dhoni scored 16 off the final 4 balls to get CSK over the line in what was an absolute thriller. Daniel Sams bowled an exceptional spell as he got 4/30 in his 4 overs. Riley Meridith got 1 wicket while Jaydev Unadkat's 2 wickets were overshadowed by his last over hammering.
