(Cricket news) The Women's World Cup has had some of the most nail biting matches in the history of women's cricket. The group stages have been concluded as Australia, South Africa, England and West Indies finished in the top 4 spots and qualified for the semifinals. The quality of cricket in the tournament has been outstanding. 

Here is the best player from each team:

Australia: Meg Lanning

The Aussies finished the group stages at the top of the table and remained unbeaten. Their skipper Meg Lanning led from the front as she scored 358 runs in 7 innings at an average of 59.66. Lanning also has the highest score at the World Cup which was her unbeaten 135 against South Africa. Batting at number 3, Lanning anchored the Australian innings on multiple occasions with her glorious stroke play. Australia will need Lanning to keep on contributing as a batter and captain in the knockout stages like she always has

South Africa: Marizanne Kapp

South Africa have had a very good World Cup so far, winning 5 out 7 games and finishing 2nd on the table. The Proteas do have the highest run scorer of the tournament Laura Wolvaardt but she is arguably the 2nd best player in her side. Marizanne Kapp has had an exceptional tournament so far with both bat and ball. With the willow she has scored 182 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of 94.79. Batting at number 6, the all-rounder scored 42, 7, 32, 34*, 30* and 32 in her innings. She also picked up 10 wickets in those 7 games at an average of 26.30. Her numbers don't do justice to her impact at this tournament as she always delivered whether it was finishing the innings with the bat or making something happen with the ball. The Proteas need her to deliver in the match against England and in the final if they progress.

England: Sophie Ecclestone

England had a terrible start to the World Cup as they lost their first 3 games. They recovered well and ended up qualifying for the knockouts by finishing 3rd on the table. The heart of the success is the tournament's highest wicket taker Sophie Ecclestone. The left arm spinner has taken 14 wickets in the 7 games so far and has an economy of just 3.27 which is the 2nd highest in the tournament. Ecclestone has truly spun webs over the opposition which has led her side into the Semi finals. England will need Ecclestone to continue doing the business of picking up crucial wickets in the knockouts as well.

West Indies: Hayley Matthews

West Indies needed a little help from South Africa and the rain gods to qualify for the semi finals ahead of India and New Zealand. Hayley Matthews has been a big reason why they have managed to reach the semis. She is the highest scorer and highest wicket taker for West Indies in this tournament. Her 226 runs with the bat and 10 wickets with the ball have guided West Indies to the semi finals. Opening the innings, Matthews has scored quick runs to get a good start to the Windies and her off-spin has got them wickets at crucial intervals. West Indies will be expecting Matthews to deliver in the game against Australia and potentially the World Cup final as well.
