(Football news) Vinicius Jr has been having a remarkable season this year as Real Madrid are reportedly set to offer 21-year-old talismanic forward a new long-term contract running until June 2027. Vinicius this season has formed one of the best duos with Karim Benzema and with the imminent arrival of either Mbappe or Haaland next season they can form one of the best forward lines in the world.
Vinicius Jr. joined Real Madrid from Flamengo in July 2018 for a sizable fee and many experts raised an eyebrow when Madrid paid such a large fee for a relatively unknown quality but since then he has come a long way at the Santiago Bernabeu. While the Brazilian international had shown promise and flashes of brilliance since his first day with the Real Madrid senior side, he has only started showing his full potential properly in this current campaign. The 21-year-old has become somewhat of a talismanic figure alongside Benzema for Real Madrid this season as he has scored 16 goals and ten assists in 34 appearances across all competitions. Vinicius’s exploits have made high profile clubs across Europe to show an interest in him.
Real Madrid will table a new long-term contract to the 21-year-old with a better salary which will run until June 2027. Vinicius’s current deal does not expire until June 2024 but Real Madrid will most likely be offering a more lucrative wage package to ward off other clubs. With Karim Benzema still going strong, his age needs to be taken into consideration as Vinicius has taken most of the mantle of a leader this season as well. Everyone in the Real Madrid board has already given the green light to the new deal, and the two parties will soon sit down for talks over the terms of the renewal. Florentino Perez usually gets what he wants as most likely Vini jr will remain in the club for a long time.
He is still young and not quite as established as the veterans in the club like Modric and Kroos so it would make sense for Vinicius Jr. to get a wage increase to the lower end of that bracket. If Vinicius gets a reported wage of 300 or 350k salary then he will be firmly in the top earners at Real Madrid, while it will be important for Perez to keep him below established veterans and mainly leaving room for potential new arrivals like Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland on the wage bill.
