Bundesliga: Bayern overwhelm RB Leipzig as Dortmund and Wolfsburg win

(Football news) The Bundesliga match week 4 brought out all the emotion from the fans as there were some dramatic results along with some edge of the seat thrillers this week. Bayern continued their unbeaten start to the season with Dortmund, Wolfsburg and Mainz all winning to maintain pressure at the top of the table.

Bayern were at their ruthless best as they beat last season's runner up Leipzig 4-1. The match was end to end right from the get go but the opening goal came from Bayern when a handball from Kevin Kampl led to Robert Lewandowski scoring from 12 yards in the first fifteen minutes. Serge Gnabry suffered an apparent injury just before halftime but his substitute Jamal Musiala made an immediate impact, scoring with his first two touches to double their lead before teeing up Leroy Sane for a simple tap-in. The goal of the match came from Konard Lamier but it was mere consolation as late on Eric Choupo Moting added a fourth to round off a convincing performance. With the result, Bayern sit second with 10 points while Leipzig sit 13th with only 3 points.

Borussia Dortmund came from behind to beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-3 in an instant thriller in the BayArena. The breakthrough came early as Paulinho teed up Florian Wirtz who made 1-0 to the host within the first 10 minutes. However, Dortmund were quick to respond as an unmarked Erling Haaland thumped his header past the goalkeeper. Dortmund were looking like taking the lead just before half time but the tables turned in favour of Leverkusen as Patrick Schick gave them the lead. The action continued in the second half as Brandt came to the rescue for Dortmund as he equalised until Moussa Diaby restored at the 55th minute mark. A perfect free-kick from Guerreiro hit the top corner to make it 3-3 before VAR awarded them a penalty which was cooly converted by Haaland. He has now scored 65 goals in 65 matches for Dortmund which is quite an extraordinary feat. With this result, Dortmund sit 3rd with 9 points and Leverkusen sit 5th with 7 points.

Surprise package Wolfsburg made it 4 wins out of 4 as they won 2-0 against newly promoted side Fruth. Mark van Bommel’s side continued their excellent start to the season as they opened the scoring through Lukas Nmecha in the 10th minute and the victory was sealed off by Weghorst who converted a penalty in the 90th minute. Bommel has got Wolfsburg to their best league start in the club history as he is proving to all his doubters. Earlier this month in the German Cup, Bommel used an extra substitute unknowingly which could have ruined his coaching career altogether.

Borussia Monchengladbach earned their first league win of the season as they beat Armina Bielefeld 3-1. Lars Stindl scored a brace before Dennis Zakaria sealed three points 18 minutes before time. With this result Gladbach stand 11th in the table with three points and will be looking to capitalize the momentum and go on a winning streak.
