India and Pakistan in Group 2 of WT20 2021

India vs Pakistan is a fierce rivalry in all sports but when we talk about cricket the rivalry tends to get a bit more fierce and interesting. As per the latest cricket news, India will take on Pakistan in the group stage of the upcoming ICC World T20. India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Afghanistan are in Group 2 of the Super 12 for the upcoming ICC event hosted by BCCI in UAE. World T20 champions West Indies, England, Australia and South Africa are the teams drawn in Group as announced by ICC on Friday.

Two teams each will join the two groups after qualifying from Round 1 of the T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands and Namibia are in Group A for Round 1 while Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Oman are in Group B. Winner of Group A and runners-up of B will join Group 1 (WI, ENG, AUS, SA) and winner of Group B and runners-up of Group A will join Group 2 (IND, PAK, NZ, AFG) in the Super 12s. The groups of the ICC T20 World Cup have been made on the basis of the teams ranking as of 20 March 2021.

It will be interesting to see how India fairs out in this interesting Group 2 with rivals Pakistan and New Zealand, a team that has given them some tough times in the recent past. India and Pakistan no longer play bilateral series and as a result, the excitement of an India-Pakistan game is very different. India has never lost to Pakistan in a World Cup but Pakistan did manage to pull off a win in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy final.

With the groups officially announced by the ICC, the countdown to the WT20 has begun. The venues for the ICC WT20 2021 in UAE are Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground. The tournament schedule is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
