Through a social media advertisement featuring Ronaldo’s son modelling the new shirt, Sporting announced the debut of the kit, a black shirt with a gold number seven on the front. By donning the new shirt, the team hopes to carry on Ronaldo’s legacy of inspiring the next generation to want to be like him. The group stated: “There are numbers that leave a Legacy: the next 7 could be you.”
Before joining Manchester United, Ronaldo excelled in the first team after graduating from Sporting’s academy. Before becoming a superstar and the all-time leading scorer at Real Madrid, the Portuguese captain went on to excel at United. Ronaldo has consistently scored goals in all of his games, including those at Juventus, United, and Al-Nassr, where he currently plays.
Sporting has honored the legendary Portuguese player before. In 2022–2023, they also unveiled a CR7-inspired uniform, which made Ronaldo the “best in the world.” With yet another Ronaldo uniform, this one modelled after his son, the team hopes to further cement their relationship with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Sporting will try to recover against CD Santa Clara on Saturday after suffering a crushing Champions League home loss to Arsenal earlier in the season. Ruben Amorim, the club’s manager, left for Manchester United this month, and he will be hoping that Joao Pereira can take over as coach of the reserve squad and guide the first team to the Liga Portugal championship.
