(Football news) The Dutchman remains under pressure to keep his job after his side were held to a 1-1 draw in Thursday’s Europa League clash with Fenerbahce.

As a result, Manchester United have now drawn each of their three matches in the league phase, leaving them in 21st place in the standings.

Manchester United have also struggled for consistency in the league, having won three, drawn two, and lost three of their eight top-flight matches, leaving them in 12th place ahead of the weekend’s round of action.

Manchester United draw up four-man managerial shortlist

While Ten Hag is preparing his side for Sunday’s clash with West Ham, Manchester United appear to be drawing up a list of potential replacements should they decide to part ways with the 54-year-old in the near future.

According to multiple reports, the Red Devils are considering four potential candidates, including Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim.

The Sporting head coach has developed an impressive reputation, having won five trophies during his time with the Portuguese giants.

A recent report claimed that Manchester United have already made an inquiry about the availability of the Portuguese manager, who has also been mentioned as a possible replacement for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Manchester United are also said to be considering Xavi as a managerial option, with the 44-year-old searching for his next challenge after leaving Barcelona in the summer.

The Red Devils have made contact with the Barcelona legend on a couple of occasions over the last few months, although there is some uncertainty about whether he would be willing to take on the role.

Terzic, Frank, make the shortlist

Amorim and Xavi are joined on Manchester United’s four-man shortlist by former Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic and current Brentford head coach Thomas Frank.

Terzic won the DFB-Pokal during his first stint as Dortmund manager before he led them to last season’s Champions League final, where they fell short against Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Frank is still regarded as a potential option after previously being linked with the Manchster United job in the summer.

The Dane, who took charge of Brentford in 2018, has taken the Bees from the Championship and established them as a Premier League outfit.

Frank’s exciting brand of football is believed to be one of the main reasons why he is being considered as a candidate for the Manchester United job.
