New £45 million sponsorship agreement between WSL and Barclays.

Barclays has agreed to a new three-year contract to continue serving as the Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship title sponsor.

With marketing and investment included, the deal is estimated to be worth about £15 million annually, which is twice as much as the previous agreement, which expires at the end of current season.

Women’s Professional Leagues Limited (WPLL), the WSL’s new takeover company, has landed its first significant contract.

The greatest contract in women’s domestic football is reportedly the renewal of the title sponsorship, which Barclays took up in 2019.

Over the previous few years, attendance and viewing figures have consistently increased throughout the WSL.

“Barclays has been a leading light when it comes to supporting women’s football, and they become a founding partner for WPLL as we embark on a transformational journey to grow the game,” stated Nikki Doucet, chief executive of the WPLL.

“This record multi-year investment demonstrates long-term commitment and is important because it provides positive endorsement and increased support for what we are trying to accomplish.”

Barclays and the Premier League have also agreed to a new four-year relationship.
