WPL 2024 to kickstart from today, in the garden city of India

(Cricket News) The second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is all set to kickstart at the M Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru from the 23rd of February. The defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on the runners-up from the previous edition, Delhi Capitals in the first game of the season.

This years WPL will be played in 2 phases. In the first phase of the league, the games will be held at Bengaluru, and from there on the caravan will move to the capital city of New Delhi. The addition of these two venues will bring in some new excitement to the league.

Before the first game of the season, a grand opening ceremony will be held at the stadium, which would include a spice of Bollywood. Some of the biggest Indian Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Siddharth Malhotra and Kartik Aryan will grace the grand occasion with their presence and will start the second edition of the league with a bang.

All the WPL games will start at 7:30 pm IST. There are no afternoon games in this edition. Unlike IPL, the WPL will not have the impact sub rule. The captains will simply name their 11 before the start of the game.

Mumbai Indians would be eager to defend their title and would love to start the season off with a victory to their name. Delhi Capitals would want to take a revenge in the opening encounter and turn around the result from the last edition’s final. When it comes to the head-to-head battle between the two teams, Mumbai Indians have won 2 out of the 3 games, while one has been won by the Capitals.
