Real Madrid eyeing an loan move for Icardi

January transfer rumors show Real Madrid interested in strikingr Mauro Icardi of Galatasaray
Real Madrid

(Football news) Thanks to his efforts with Gala in the Champions League this season, Icardi has returned to the forefront of the European scene. Shortly after missing a penalty kick in October’s 3-2 triumph over Manchester United at Old Trafford, the 30-year-old scored the game’s winning goal late on.

Even though Icardi was only able to lead Galatasaray to third place in the group, he has been in incredible scoring form at home, where the Turkish powerhouses and rivals Fenerbahce are neck and neck at the top.

Real Madrid has taken notice of Icardi’s play, as he has already scored eighteen goals this season, and they intend to buy him in January. According to the rumor, Icardi would enter the game and challenge Joselu for a spot in the starting lineup.

Even though Joselu hasn’t been a fixture in the team, the 33-year-old has scored nine goals despite receiving some criticism during his early Real Madrid stint.

At the beginning of the season, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti favored a starting strikeforce consisting of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo; however, the latter’s injury has temporarily severed their relationship.

After suffering an injury while playing for Brazil in mid-November, Vini Jr. was sidelined for up to 10 weeks. As a result, it’s possible that he won’t play again until the Champions League returns in February.

Even if Real has won five of the last six games following Vini Jr.’s injury, it looks like Real will shop around for a new offensive option in January.

Icardi was one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers in the second half of the 2010s, thanks to his productive time wearing an Inter Milan shirt. Icardi, who came through Barcelona’s La Masia development system, had six incredible seasons at Inter Milan even if the Nerazzurri did not take home any big awards.

Icardi scored 124 goals with Inter after joining from Sampdoria in 2013 and eventually earning a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain. Icardi’s numbers declined a little as a result of playing in the shadow of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and finally Argentine colleague Lionel Messi, and he quickly lost favor at the Parc des Princes.
