(Football News) In an effort to secure the services of Mason Mount, Manchester United has recently submitted a renewed offer of £50 million. However, they have also cautioned Chelsea that they will not succumb to excessive demands. The second bid consisted of £45 million along with an additional £5 million in add-ons, but Chelsea promptly turned it down and insisted on £60 million plus an extra £5 million.
Even though Erik ten Hag desires to have Mason Mount on board, Manchester United has firmly conveyed to Chelsea that they will not be coerced into exceeding their perceived value of the player. With only one year remaining on his existing contract, United believes that their most recent offer appropriately reflects Mason Mount’s current market worth, and they are unwilling to overpay for his services.
While Mount and United have already reached an agreement on personal terms, the ultimate hurdle lies in negotiating the transfer fee with Chelsea. Unless a compromise can be reached between the two clubs, the completion of the deal hangs in the balance.
Eager to rejuvenate his career, Mason Mount is determined to make the move to Manchester United after experiencing a stagnation period at Chelsea. Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag holds the belief that the 24-year-old midfielder can recapture his finest form under his guidance at United.
While Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, their direct competitors, have already made significant progress in strengthening their squads, United is yet to make their first signing of the summer. The ongoing takeover saga has hindered Ten Hag’s ability to swiftly conduct his transfer dealings, causing delays that are not in line with his preferred timeline.
Eager to capitalize on the progress made last season, the manager of Manchester United is determined to strengthen the team after achieving a third-place finish and securing an immediate return to the Champions League. Erik ten Hag, who also ended United’s six-year trophy drought by guiding them to victory in the Carabao Cup, acknowledges the need to bolster the squad in order to mount a title challenge in the upcoming season.
In his remarks at the conclusion of the previous season, the Dutch manager emphasized, “The club is aware that in order to secure a top-four position and contend for trophies in this highly competitive league, investment is necessary. Without it, we stand little chance as other clubs will surely do the same.”
“During the winter, we witnessed significant investments from all the clubs around us, whereas we didn’t make such substantial moves. Nevertheless, we managed to succeed, and I am immensely proud of my team.”
However, the prevailing uncertainty regarding the club’s ownership puts Erik Ten Hag in a challenging position as he remains uncertain about the available budget. He stated, “The only certainty I have is that Manchester United is one of the premier clubs worldwide. However, building competitive squads requires financial resources since the quality of players determines success. Acquiring top-tier players comes with a significant cost.”
