Ben Chilwell is set to sign a new contract with Chelsea until 2027, despite interest from Manchester City.
Ben Chilwell signs a new deal with Chelsea till 2027

(Football news) The England international who recently turned 26-year-old has suffered injuries this season and was notably out with a hamstring problem which saw him miss the World Cup with England, but since his return he has been Chelsea’s best player in a lackluster season. The left-back has gone onto make 19 Premier League appearances this season but wasn’t in the starting XI when the Blues lost to Wolves in Frank Lampard’s first game back in charge of the team.

Chelsea clearly value Chilwell, as he is set to sign a new deal which will extend his stay at Stamford Bridge by two more years. His current contract was set to run out in 2025 but he is going to sign a new deal which will keep him at the club till 2027 and ward off any interest in signing him this season. Manchester City were very keen on Chilwell as they needed a new left-back after the departures of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Joao Cancelo. Signing a new contract will end any chance for City to sign the England international, with Chilwell committing his future at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard will hope that the 26 year old will be fit for their crucial Champions League quarter finals clash with Real Madrid. He watched his side lose 1-0 at Wolves in his first game back as the Chelsea manager and now has a monumental task of leading his underperforming Chelsea to Real Madrid on Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final. Graham Potter got them into the last eight by eliminating Borussia Dortmund but after four games without a win he got sacked by the club hierarchy.

“I feel very settled at Chelsea and have really enjoyed my time on the pitch here so I’m very pleased the club want me to be part of the project long-term, and am very happy to sign this extension to my contract,” he told the club’s official website. “We are working hard for success and I will do my best to bring more smiles to the faces of the fans who have made me feel so welcome.”
