(Football news) Marco Asensio hasn’t played a single minute in the last two games for Real Madrid. He did have a decent period before that but consistency has been a problem for the Spaniard. Asensio’s contract ends at the end of the season and there is nothing concrete as of yet. The player has said that staying at Madrid is his priority but at the moment things aren’t looking good for that to happen. According to reports, Marco Asensio wants more money than Madrid are preparing to offer. Real Madrid on the other hand see Asensio as a backup player and are offering him a a deal accordingly. 

Real Madrid aren’t wrong in looking at Marco Asensio as a bench player as the player hasn’t shown enough consistency to show that he can become a designated starter. Asensio appointed super agent Jorge Mendes who infamously doesn’t have the best of relationship with Real Madrid. According to reports he has offered Asensio’s services to a number of Premier League clubs and FC Barcelona. The signing of Asensio for free will be a good deal for any club because he is a good player. Playing for Barcelona will forever stain his short legacy at Real Madrid but it is understandable if he wants to do that to take his career to the next level.

Real Madrid could recall Brahim Diaz from loan to replace Marco Asensio. Even someone like Sergio Arribas from Castila would be a good replacement for him. Real Madrid need to strengthen their attack next season so it is a perfect plan to not offer Asensio a lot of money because losing him won’t be the worst thing in the world. Things could change very quickly before the end of the season especially if Asensio starts to play well. If Asensio does end up staying at Real Madrid then it will most likely be on the clubs terms as seen before with Lucas Vazquez whose situation was similar.
