From June 4th to June 11th, 2023, the top men’s and women’s hockey5s teams from the Pan American region will convene in Kingston, Jamaica for the Hockey5s Pan American Cups (PAC). In this tournament, three spots will be up for grabs in the inaugural FIH Hockey5s World Cup Oman 2024, for both men and women.

Joining host country Jamaica, teams from Panama, USA, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Paraguay, and Trinidad & Tobago will participate in both the men’s and women’s tournaments. Additionally, Puerto Rico (men), Uruguay (women), and Brazil (women) complete the lineup, with eight teams competing in the men’s tournament and nine teams in the women’s.

The women’s competition will commence on the afternoon of June 4th, with Paraguay facing Costa Rica at 13:00 local time. The men’s competition will start later that same afternoon, featuring a match between Guatemala and Paraguay as the opening encounter.

The teams will be divided into two pools for each competition. In the men’s tournament, Pool A consists of Jamaica, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the USA, while Pool B includes Costa Rica, Guatemala, Paraguay, and Trinidad & Tobago. In the women’s tournament, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay, and the USA are placed in Pool A, while Brazil, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, and Uruguay will compete in Pool B.

During the pool stage, each team will face the other teams in their respective pool once. The top four teams from each pool will qualify for the cross-overs, where the winners will advance to the semi-finals. The losing semi-finalists will compete in the bronze medal match. The two finalists and the bronze medalists in each gender will earn their qualification for the corresponding FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024.

The first-ever FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024 will take place in Muscat, Oman from January 24th to January 31st, 2024. This exciting event will feature 16 teams competing in both the men’s and women’s tournaments.

In the men’s competition, teams from the Netherlands, Poland, and Switzerland representing Europe, as well as Egypt, Kenya, and Nigeria from Africa, have successfully qualified for the World Cup. These teams will join the host country Oman in the tournament. Alongside the three qualifiers from Pan America, three teams from Oceania and Asia will also secure their spots in the World Cup.

Similarly, in the women’s competition, teams from Namibia, South Africa, and Zambia representing Africa, along with the host country Oman, have earned their qualification for the World Cup. Additionally, three teams from Europe, Oceania, and Asia, in addition to the three qualifiers from Pan America, will also earn their places in the highly anticipated World Cup.
