2022 World Cup: France forward Nkunku ruled out due to leg injury

(Football news) France forward Christopher Nkunku has been ruled out of the World Cup after sustaining a leg injury during training on Tuesday. The 25 year old is currently Bundesliga’s top scorer with 2 goals in 15 games for RB Leipzig. The injury appears to have been caused after Nkunku was caught in a challenge by Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga in training.

The French squad is travelling to Qatar on Wednesday and will face Australia in their opening Group D match. France is the reigning world champions but will be heading into the tournament without the likes of Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante and defender Prisnel Kimpembe while Raphael Varane is currently recovering from an injury but has been included in the squad. Borussia Monchengladbach‘s Marcus Thuram has been included in the team’s squad and will undoubtedly be a vital addition, especially with Nkunku being ruled out.
