(Football news) FIFA are currently investigating how celebrity chef Salt Bae, whose real name is Nusret Gokce was given “undue access” to the Lusail Stadium pitch after the 2022 World Cup. The chef was seen kissing the World Cup trophy while celebrating with the Argentinian players, many of whom looked uncomfortable in his presence. According to FIFA rules, the World Cup trophy can only be held by a “very select” group of people, including tournament winners, FIFA officials and heads of state.

In a statement, a FIFA spokesperson said “Following a review, Fifa has been establishing how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail stadium on 18 December. The appropriate internal action will be taken.”

Salt Bae is the owner of a chain of steakhouses around the world and has become an internet sensation due to the way he prepares and seasons the meat. He is well known in the football industry with many of the biggest names in sport being customers at his restaurants. He has been seen alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the World Cup and was later pictured in the VIP seats at a game with Brazil legends Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos and Cafu.
