Darwin Machís keeps the relegation battle alive

There was a huge game in the relegation battle on Sunday, as 17th-placed Cádiz CF hosted 18th-placed RC Celta. The visitors went 2-0 up on the scoreboard, but Cádiz CF fought back and Darwin Machís whipped in a superb 100th-minute equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw and completely alter the dynamic at the bottom of the table. That goal means the gap between the two clubs remains three points, rather than six.

Real Betis vs Athletic Club was always going to be one of the standout fixtures from Matchday 26 and it finished as a 3-1 win for the home side, with new signing Chimy Ávila opening the scoring with his first goal for Los Verdiblancos. Those three points allowed Real Betis to move ahead of Real Sociedad and into sixth place, which is currently the final European qualification spot.
